New jewelery

I went to a wedding last night and wanted some new jewelery to wear so I made this necklace and bracelet to wear.   I haven’t found a way to consistently take good pics of  jewelery yet.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!  I have a Canon Powershot.

img_1559Here is a close up of the pendant.  I bought this a few months ago on clearance at Kohls.  It has been sitting around waiting for me to do something with it.

img_1558 I like the toggle clasp I used on the bracelet.  I think it complements the necklace pendant nicely.  I can’t remember where I bought the clasp.

img_1557 Some other pieces that I have made recently were for a silent auction at work.  I made 2 bracelets and a key ring.  The bracelets got bids on the first day so I was excited to see that!

A dog standoff

We had a dog standoff this evening.  We have this gumball machine for dogs.  We put kibble in it and the dog has to hit the bone handle and some kibble will come out as a reward.   Daisy’s way of working it is to look at us until we push it for her and she still gets the treat.  Not the intended method but it works for her.  Lacey learned how to push the handle an dget the kibble.  BUT she will not push it if Dasiy is nearby.  That dog does not like to share!!  Tonight she pushed it and Daisy ate some but after 2 or 3 times of doing that, Lacey laid down near the machine and refused to push it anymore.   Daisy laid down nearby, watching and waiting for Lacey to make more kibble appear.  They both laid there on the floor for about 15  minutes each waiting for the other make a move.  They are so funny.

A new casino in Las Vegas

Scott’s mom and dad were visiting this week so I didn’t have time to make any card or anything this week.  We did go and visit the new M Resort that opened Sunday night.  It is a beautiful casino.   The hotel lobby has walls of calla lillies which is one of my favorite flowers.  There were beautiful floral arrangements throughout the casino.  I took a few pictures but I had forgotten my camera so these were taken with my phone.

Sorry for the glare.   The flowers are live and if I understood correctly, water runs through the grid to keep them fresh.

The pool area looks like it will be gorgeous.  It isn’t finished yet and of course it isn’t open yet.

It looks like this new casino will be a fun place to play and the player rewards are good too.

A bridal shower

Three girls that work with me are getting married in the next 3 months.  So we decided to have a combined bridal shower for all I made the favors using my cricut.  I made a a cake from cake slices.  I decorated the cake in the colors of all 3 weddings–or at least tried to!  The colors are chocolate brown and cherry, pink and silver and green and silver.  Here is the “cake”:

Burp cloths for a baby shower.

I went to a baby shower for a friend today.  My gifts were  hand made.    I made a name frame for the baby’s room.  I posted it the other day but her it is again:

img_1445

Patterned Paper:  Black Market Papers

Solid Paper:  Bazzill and Stampin Up!

Letters cut with cricut cartridge–Jasmine

Flowers are Prima

This is the first time I have made a name frame.  I had fun making it and was pleased with how it turned out.  The colors for the baby’s room are turquoise with brown daisies.

I also made some burp cloths.  In browsing websites and blogs I saw several types of these and wanted to give it a try.  I used the pattern from New Conceptions and followed the tutorial from the blog homemade by jill.  There are alot of good ideas on this blog.  I plan on trying the baby bib tutorial soon for another friend.  I used flannel for the main fabric.  I used a print on one side and and a solid pink on the other side.  I put a piece of flannel batting in the middle to make them more absorbent.  Here are my burp clothes:

And here is the set of 4 in the box ready to be wrapped:

A little Mojo Monday on Friday

Better late than never I guess.  I did this week’s sketch challenge from Mojo Monday Here is a copy of the sketch:

mojo75sketchHere is my interpretation.  This is a baby shower card.  The colors are nontraditional for a baby shower–they are colors of the nursery and the same colors that I used in a name frame that I made for the baby.

A quiet rainy Monday

It is a chilly rainy Monday.  I’m not motivated to do much today.  Since it is President’s day I think I will go out and check out some of the sales.

I needed a gift bag this weekend.  I really don’t like to spend a lot of money on gift bags, I’d rather put the money into the actually gift.

Here is a bag that I made for this weekend

img_1438

This was super easy to make.  I just cut a strip of cardstock to match the tissue and used my StampinUP Scallop punch for the border and used glue dots to adhere the buttons.   I bought the buttons several years ago at the Target $ spot (love that place!)  I knew I would used them for something–I just didn’t thihnk it would  take this long to use them!

I forgot to add this picture that I took when we were at the Bellagio the other day.  It wasn’t part of the Conservatory display, it was along the walkway outside.  I took it it because I like primroses!
